Adventures with ASHA Communities

There are days when it seems as though every body has an app…There are apps to find cheap gas, apps to find restaurants, and apps to find apps .

Even the school where I work recently released an app so we had all things related to the school at our fingertips. Every body has an app! So it isn’t really a surprise that ASHA has an app.

(And don’t you dare just click-through this post just because it has to do with ASHA! It’s worth reading…really!) Continue reading

Adventures in Article Reviews – 3

It’s the second Tuesday of the month – which means it’s time for Blogging About Research. Today’s research will follow a similar format (I think) to last month; although, to be fair, I reserve the right to make [side excursions] as I often think out loud while typing. Don’t forget to read the compilation of all the article reviews from participating bloggers here.

Today’s research article comes from the Canadian Speech Language Hearing Association’s (CASLPA) journal the Canadian Journal of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (CJSLPA). I have to say, I love this journal.

Adventures in a CEU Study

There are only a few things in life that are certain. Death – no one gets out alive…Taxes – we all have to pay them….and CEUs -we all need them. paperwork

Conferences are wonderful but not always at a good time, or they are too expensive, or the speakers aren’t always who we want to listen to. Online CEUs are convenient, usually reasonably priced, but you don’t get the discussion aspect of it so it sort of leaves a person feeling…unfulfilled.

Several of the SLPs on twitter were discussing this concern…and we hit upon a brilliant plan…and I don’t say that lightly! Continue reading

Adventures in Article Reviews – 1

The format for the article reviews will be a bit different than typical. Hopefully they will still be easy to read…and fun. Well, as fun as one can make article reviews. Okay…Not fun at all, but come on, they’re an integral part of our career choice. There will, most likely, be little add-on comments because sometimes I just can’t stop myself. They will be in brackets [with italics]…for the most part. Well, except for the end where it’s ALL my discussion. Here we go! blog research reviews
